Hi! My name is Torrance Campbell. I’m a traditional 2D animator who has lived in Detroit, Michigan, for most of my life. Before college, I had intended to study computer science or graphic design. Video games, cartoons, and anime have been a part of my life for a long time but I never thought of pursuing these things as a career. I say all this to say that my love for animation is something that has developed over the couple of years that I’ve been here at CCS.
I get the most excited about creating a gripping story through my animation—a story with a lot of depth in both its world and its characters. Something that can make my audience laugh and smile, but also cry and rave. Someday, I would like to make something similar to the things that inspire me, which are mostly Shonen anime and other Eastern-influenced works. I also like to incorporate a lot of action and humor into my projects. I’m looking to accomplish this with my senior thesis, Aspects.
